About Hello, I’m Chris Firstly, welcome to my travel blog focused on tips and tricks that I have learned for travelling the world while living with Ulcerative Colitis (for those of you who stumbled along this blog, and have no idea what UC is, here’s a good explanation as to what I am on about). Let me tell you a little bit about myself… As you have probably guessed, I have ulcerative colitis. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, I was diagnosed with moderate/severe UC while studying in the USA when I was 21. Given the nature of the beast, I have been learning to live with it ever since (13 years and counting). Needless to say, as someone with a million hobbies (hockey, rowing, sailing, scuba diving, motorbike riding) this diagnosis has literally been a massive pain in the arse. However, I have been determined to not let UC get in the way of life, and since my diagnosis, I have lived in Australia, China and the UK – and travelled extensively throughout Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Travelling with UC isn’t always smooth sailing, but the purpose of this blog is to highlight that it is entirely possible to have great adventures, and why some destinations are infinitely better than others if you are looking for an adventure! Worth Noting (Disclaimer): As will hopefully come across throughout this blog, UC is an intensely personal disease – and some of the recommendations in the blog probably won’t work for you. The key is to find solutions that work for you!
